Dear Members,
The Board of Trustees has officially voted to recognize JROTC instructors as part of the Washoe Education Association!
This is a historic step for our district.
This has been in the works for a long time. There were efforts several years ago to make this happen, and over the last couple of years we’ve been steadily working to move it forward and make this happen. A lot of time and energy went into this, to get to this point.
JROTC instructors do important work with students every day. They build relationships, create structure, and open doors for kids. They should have a voice and access to representation just like the rest of our membership. Now they do.
This is also a reflection of where we are as an organization. We’re growing, but we’re also taking a harder look at how we operate and where we need to move differently. That means being more deliberate about the work we take on, stepping into areas we haven’t before, and being willing to push harder and more directly when something needs to change.
Appreciate all of you for being members and believing in the work we can do collectively!
