Increasing Student Engagement

Students are more connected to school when they have opportunities to explore their interests, participate in activities, and experience learning in ways that are engaging and meaningful. WEA wants student voices to be at the center of this work, highlighting the classes, clubs, activities, and experiences that make them excited to be part of their school community.

Our work includes pushing for greater flexibility for educators to provide hands-on and inquiry-based learning, expanding access to art, STEM, electives, clubs, athletics, and extracurricular activities, and continuing negotiations with WCSD to increase funding and educator compensation for the programs that make these opportunities possible.

By listening directly to students and investing in what keeps them connected to school, we can expand opportunities for more students across WCSD.
