Master of Science in Elementary Education
with a Focus on STEM Education

Mrs. Dorothy Lemelson is offering 25 teachers in the Washoe County School District and Lyon County School district the opportunity to complete a Master’s degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in STEM education at the University of Nevada, Reno. Her gift will cover the cost of tuition for the duration of the program. The students are responsible for any fees associate with tuition and courses. This program is designed for the practicing (K-8) teacher to develop specialized knowledge in math, science, Technology and Engineering. Classes are offered in the evenings. Courses are designed to add content and pedagogical knowledge based in the Common Core State Standards in Mathematics and the Next Generation Science Standards. Outcomes of this program include developing students as Master Teachers, teacher leaders in STEM, and to build scholarship. Note: the scholarships are contingent of the contract being signed and funds being made available to UNR from Mrs. Lemelson.
