Safe & Respectful Schools
Every student deserves a school where they can learn, and every educator deserves a workplace where they can safely and effectively do their job. Right now, student behavior and inconsistent disciplinary practices are creating serious challenges to the learning and working conditions in some of our schools. WEA is committed to addressing those challenges while ensuring students receive the support they need to be successful.
We will use educator experiences and data to identify where the current system is falling short, work with WCSD to strengthen and consistently implement behavior and discipline policies, and advocate for additional alternative education settings and behavioral supports. We will also pursue legislation that gives schools greater flexibility to intervene earlier when serious behaviors become repeated. Our goal is a system that better supports students, protects educators, and ensures classrooms remain safe, productive places for teaching and learning.
