The Educators Toolbox

This month I came across this really good site that helps teachers and families of English Language Learners called www.colorincolorado.org
This is a bi-lingual site and a service of the Reading Rockets Project which includes PBS television programs, online services and professional development opportunities. Colorin Colorado is a free web-based service that provides information, activities and advice for educators and Spanish-speaking families of English language learners.
It has information for educators and parents, books and authors, a glossary, topics from A-Z, research and reports, free guides and tool kits, and even a learning store. There are webcasts on various topics along with podcasts and videos. There are also e-newsletters and web resources. You can sign up to receive T.E.L.L.E grams from them which is basically a free monthly e-newsletter that provides teacher tips, inspiring stories and research based articles. Sister sites include www.readingrockets.org and www.adlit.org.
Karin Hester, from Smithridge Elementary, found www.shelsilverstein.com/indexSite.html
This is a good site if you are doing any activities on Shel Silverstein books. She tells me you need to choose high bandwith.
That’s all I have this time. I hope you find these sites helpful, useful, and informative.
I still need your help! Any good site you know about, use regularly, LOVE to use, can’t live without…Please share them. Send your information to Laurie Johns at twoschues2000@yahoo.com
Please be sure to write “teacher tool box” in the subject box so I don’t delete your e-mail!
Also include your name and school so I can give you all the credit! Until next time…Happy searching!
