As we go to print the last newsletter of the school year, I am about to close a chapter in my life and welcome the new challenges ahead of me. Many of you already know that I will be retiring at the end of this school year. After eighteen years as the WEA Executive Director, it is time to move on and experience professional growth using the talents I have developed.
Change is not easy and for certain it is true that without change, we cannot experience growth. The Board of Directors has begun its national search for the new Executive Director. There are many talented staff people throughout the country and I am sure there are several who would jump at the chance to become the executive director of WEA.
Over the last eighteen years the organization has grown and evolved into a viable and powerful organization within the state and country. Our membership is at an all time high and our members are some of the most active in the state.
It has been my extreme pleasure to serve one of the best locals in this country. I know that I leave you in the hands of great leaders and am comfortable in the fact that educators and students are well served in this community due to the Washoe Education Association.
